Measuring Mass

P2/3 has started work on their block of lessons about mass. Today they revised heavier and lighter before using non standard units of measure to calculate the weight of everyday items.

It was World Book Day today and p2/3 and Mrs Uney rose to the occasion with their fabulous costumes. The excitement was rife in their room this morning as all the characters  appeared in class!

Capacity

Today was all about measuring the capacity of a vast array of containers using cups. The school didn’t get flooded and the children sorted the various vessels from greatest capacity to smallest capacity.  As Hs2 makes the headlines, two budding engineers made a really impressive railway with bridges, loops and trains running on time! 

Football training

Today P2/3 had a special visitor at their gym slot: a real football coach! He was fantastic with them And they thoroughly enjoyed their hour of football skills and games. Just ask your child about  Jimmy, Jimette and Jeff ....

Future Fridays

The three week blocks have started again. Mrs Uney is doing a Movement and Music class and Miss Guthrie is teaching weaving.  

Big Maths

For the start of 2020, P2/3 shall be learning about area using standard and non standard units of measure. Today they used handprints to measure the surface area of their desks, books, boxes and other items and then they used counters to measure the surface of various paper shapes.
